2005 IADD Annual Meeting

October 20-22, 2005
Omni Mandalay Hotel at Las Colinas, Irving (Dallas), TX, USA

  “Don’t Gamble With Your Business”

There’s a difference between a gamble and a calculated risk.
     - Captain Shepard in Sink the Bismarck!

Change your life today. Don’t gamble on the future, act now, without delay.

     - Simone De Beauvoir

When you’re in the back of the pack, you can gamble a little bit more.

     - Michael Andretti

21st Century Die Shop Management — What Really Matters Most Now
Moderator: Mike Adams, Adams Technologies; Speaker: Jerry Kovach, J.F. Helmold & Bro.
The future should not be a gamble. By attending this program, you will learn the industry facts and trends you need to know to make good decisions. If you understand where your company stands, you can become more than just a survivor. This session will also cover why management is still the #1 key to success. You’ll discover how to pinpoint the true, cause-effect relationship between measured performance results and leading management practices, using the exclusive “Competitive Leadership System” (CLS) database with facts from over 300 companies. In addition, you will pinpoint your personal and your company’s management practices and what your company needs to change most, with optional and confidential use of the CLS survey and analysis. This includes:
  • Planning continuous process improvements

  • Establishing measured performance goals and visual tracking; will include a free CD copy of the CLS STATS TRACKER software for application in your company

  • Turning plans into projects with teams and schedules

  • Making projects results happen with effective accountability communication

  • True-Cause problem solving for technology and people

  • Training for productive skills

  • Motivating the Right Stuff
Also learn how to make change happen for world-class results — a 5-step process for turning your management team into world-class winners. This workshop will include reference literature, worksheets and software. There will also be opportunities for interactive discussions with other attendees and the workshop presenter.

Managing Generational Differences
Moderator: Tom Sporleder, Printron; Speaker: Lewis G. Bender, Ph.D., Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville
This fast moving workshop examines and analyzes the differences, similarities and issues involving people of different ages who come together in the workplace. Participants are presented the latest data related to how to manage and motivate younger employees. The views, behaviors and attitudes of the different generations are explored in a serious and humorous fashion. Participants are assisted in finding new ways to view and work with other generations.

Sales and Marketing for Diecutters and Diemakers
Moderator: Bob Larson, Larson WorldWide; Speaker: Mike Adams, Adams Technologies
Why should diecutters and diemakers have a sales and marketing plan? For the same reasons all businesses should have a plan; if you don’t know where you want to go, how will you ever get there? The sales and marketing plan is an integral part of a good business plan, but it is usually not given the attention it deserves. Diecutters and diemakers concentrate their sales and marketing efforts in narrow segments of the market. This type of marketing is called “niche marketing.” The session will deal with cost-effective ways we can reach our niche and maximize our sales efforts.

Shaping Future Technology
Moderator: Steve Gore, Data Technology; Speaker: To Be Announced
Do you have an idea for technology that you’d love to see available in the future? This brainstorming session will collect ideas from those attending, who will then vote to select the most viable possibilities. These potential innovations will then be printed in The Cutting Edge, making them available to the companies with the ability to produce them. So put on your thinking caps and prepare to shape the future.
